I'm sure the XPower Plus 400 watt inverter has its limitations, but it has worked great for us. I purchased it prior to making a 2000 mile round trip to visit relatives in late 2008. We just completed another 2000 mile trip. The first year we used it to power one laptop computer so the kids could watch movies. This year we powered two laptop computers so the kids could watch different movies, play games, etc.
The fan does make some noise that can be heard when stopped. However if you put the inverter on the floor you really can't hear it. When driving, the road noise is louder than the fan noise regardless of where you put the inverter. The inverter is very well constructed and I look forward to having a lot of service from it for years to come.

Handy product to have for long car trips. Worked great for powering one laptop but could not handle two laptops at one time. Alarm keep sounding when we tried, so had to limit the use. We bought it assuming that it was strong enough for both laptops. Disappointed in the results. For light usage, no problems at all.

300 watts is 2.5 amps.It does what it says it will.It isn't made for power drills,vacuum cleaners,or air compressors.It's only for charging cell phones, laptops,and small electronics.As long as you know that when you buy it,you won't be disappointed.It's hard to drive around with your hood up,so unless you run wiring to your battery it only puts out 1.2 amps.Great for laptops,cell phones and small Electronics.If you want to run power drills, vacuum cleaners and air compressors,then this isn't the product you need.It's not really a 400 watt,it's really a 300 watt.If you need lots of power you need 800 or more watts.
